The Free Mockup: What Happens in the 24 Hours After You Reach Out
We promise a free mockup of your new homepage within 24 hours, before you pay anything. Here is exactly what happens on our side in that window, what we need from you, and what you get at the end of it.
The hardest part of getting a new website is not the design or the cost. It is the leap. You are asked to commit to an agency, a price, and a direction based on a portfolio and a conversation, and you do not find out whether they understood your business until weeks and thousands of dollars later.
We built our whole process around removing that leap. Before you pay anything, you see a real, styled mockup of your new homepage, built from your own materials, within 24 hours. If you love it, we build the rest. If you do not, you owe nothing and you have lost a day.
People often ask what actually happens in that day. Here it is.
Hour zero: what you send us
The clock starts when we have your materials, and the mockup is only as good as what we start with. We ask for four things:
- Your copy. Whatever you have: the text from your current site, a brochure, a rough description of your services, even bullet points. We will shape it, but we need your words for what you do.
- Your photos and logo. Real photos of your work, your team, and your place beat stock every time. If you do not have many, say so, and we will plan around it.
- A site or two you like the look of. They do not have to be in your industry. This tells us more about your taste in two links than a long conversation would.
- The specifics. Services, locations, hours, and the one thing you most want a visitor to do: call, book, or request a quote.
The Get Started form asks for all of this. Most people finish it in ten minutes. If something is missing, we will ask rather than guess.
The first few hours: reading your business
Before anyone opens a design tool, we read. Your materials, your current site if you have one, your Google profile and reviews, and the sites you pointed to. We are looking for the one sentence that explains what you do and for whom, because that sentence becomes your headline, and the headline decides whether the rest of the page works.
We also look at what your competitors’ sites do and do not do, because the point of your homepage is not to look nice in isolation. It is to make a visitor choose you over the tab next door.
The middle: designing the homepage
The mockup is your homepage, not a sketch of it. It is built at full fidelity with your logo, your photos, your colors where you have them, and real copy shaped from what you sent. It shows the headline, the primary action, how your services are presented, where your reviews go, and how the page moves toward the thing you want visitors to do.
We focus on the homepage because it carries the most decisions. If the homepage is right, the rest of the site follows its lead. If it is wrong, no amount of inner pages will save it.
This is real design work by the same small team that will build the site. Nothing is templated and nothing is outsourced, which is one reason we can do it in a day: there is no handoff.
Hour 24: what you receive
You get a link to a styled preview of your homepage that you can open on your phone or your desktop, along with a short note about the choices we made and why. You can react however you like: love it, hate it, or “the top is perfect but the middle needs work.”
Then we refine. Small adjustments happen quickly. If the direction is wrong, we say so and try a different one. The goal is a homepage you are excited about, not one you are willing to accept.
Approval, and only then, payment
When you approve the mockup, your plan starts. Your setup fee, unless you have chosen a twelve-month commitment that waives it, and your first month are due at that point and not before. Then we build out the rest of your site in a private preview where you can click through every page and comment on anything using the same visual feedback tool you will use for edits after launch.
If you do not approve it, that is the end. No invoice, no awkward conversation, no obligation. You have seen what we would do with your business, and you can take that knowledge anywhere.
Why we work this way
A free mockup costs us a day of real work with no guarantee of a client. We do it anyway, for two reasons.
The first is that it is the only honest way to sell design. A portfolio shows what we did for someone else. A mockup shows what we would do for you, and that is the only thing you actually care about.
The second is that it keeps us sharp. When every prospect sees real work before committing, we cannot coast on a good sales call. The mockup has to earn the yes.
What to do before you reach out
Gather your photos. Write down your services and the one action you want visitors to take. Find a website or two you like. Then fill out the form. Twenty-four hours later you will know exactly what your new website looks like, and you will not have spent a dollar finding out.
